Why professional training is essential for Kilgore dog owners
Behavior modification
Address jumping, pulling, barking, anxiety, and reactivity at the root, not just the symptom.
Safety & control
A dog that listens the first time is a safer dog around traffic, other dogs, and people.
Stronger bond
Clear communication builds trust, so your dog looks to you for direction instead of guessing.
Skills that transfer
We hand the training over to you at pickup, so the obedience keeps working at home.
Family harmony
A calm, well-mannered dog means a calmer home for kids, guests, and other pets alike.
Our dog training programs for Kilgore dogs
Lessons happen where your dog already spends its days; board and train dogs live and train with one of our trainers. Here is how the programs break down.

Therapy dog preparation
A two-week board and train that builds the calm, reliable obedience a dog needs before future therapy dog work.

Built for how Kilgore dogs actually live
Kilgore dogs get around: downtown by World's Richest Acre Park, the ball fields and paths at Kilgore City Park, and Meadowbrook Park. Those are also the places where pulling on the leash, lunging at other dogs, or bolting after a squirrel turn a walk into a chore.
We train where your dog lives its life, so the obedience works on your street and at your park, not only in a quiet room. For dogs that need off-leash reliability, the board and train programs are where it gets built.
Lessons suit owners who want to do the work alongside a trainer over a few weeks; board and train suits owners who would rather a trainer do the heavy lifting first. We will tell you honestly which one fits your dog on a free phone call.
Where your dog will shine
- World's Richest Acre Park
- Kilgore City Park
- Meadowbrook Park
- Downtown Kilgore sidewalks
- Your own street and yard
Zach and Holly Wheeler own Off Leash K9 Training of Tyler and brought it to Tyler, Longview and the surrounding East Texas towns. Holly started working with dogs at a veterinary hospital in Edmond, Oklahoma, at 16, earned her degree at the University of Oklahoma, and has worked with hundreds of dogs and their families as an Off Leash K9 trainer. Zach's training centers on clear communication, consistency, and training that works in everyday life, not just during a lesson.
Trainer Patrick Callahan, who has fostered and trained dogs since 2019, works alongside them.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come to Kilgore for lessons?
Yes. Kilgore is one of the towns we serve, and our trainers come to you. Private lessons happen where your dog already spends its days: at home, in your neighborhood, or at the park you already walk to. See the Basic Obedience and Basic & Advanced Obedience lessons.
How does board and train work?
Your dog lives and trains with one of our trainers for one week or two weeks. At pickup you get a one-on-one session that shows you everything your dog learned and how to keep it going at home. The 2 Week Board & Train also includes daily photo updates and a before-and-after video.
How old does my dog need to be?
At least six months for lessons and for board and train. We do not run a separate puppy program; for a younger puppy, the Online Puppy Training Course on our plans and pricing page is a good place to start.
How much does dog training cost?
Private lessons are $650 for four and $950 for eight. Board and train is $1,850 for one week and $2,850 for two weeks, and the two-week therapy dog program is also $2,850. Every program is listed on our plans and pricing page. Payment plans are available. Call us today to learn more about payment options.
Will the e-collar hurt my dog?
No. We use it at a low level as a way to get your dog's attention, like a tap on the shoulder, never as punishment. Your lessons and board and train programs include the e-collar, and we show you exactly how it feels and how to use it before you take it home.
