About us

Off Leash K9 Training Tyler, Texas trains dogs six months and older, of every breed and size, to respond to come, sit, down, place and heel, on leash and off, around real distractions. Our trainers come to you: private lessons happen at your home, in your neighborhood or at a local park. Programs and prices

These are the prices on our website on November 4, 2026. Prices can change; our prices page always has the current ones.

Board and train

Your dog lives and trains with one of our professional trainers every day, then you get a one-on-one session at pickup. These programs are popular and can be booked months in advance, so please contact us before paying online.

1 Week Board and Train

$1,850

One week focused on full off-leash recall, place and sit around distractions, plus greeting, door and meal manners. E-collar included, and a 1.5-hour one-on-one session at pickup.

2 Week Board and Train

$2,850

Two weeks: come, sit, place, heel, down and off, come to heel, extended distance work, load up and door manners. Daily photo updates, a before-and-after video, the e-collar and training leash, and a 2 to 3 hour session at pickup.

2 Week Therapy Dog Development Board and Train

$2,850

Two weeks of obedience, greeting manners, calm public behavior and the foundational skills commonly needed before the Canine Good Citizen test. For friendly, stable dogs six months and older. Ends with a private go-home lesson. It is not a therapy dog certification.

Private lessons

One-on-one lessons where our trainer comes to you and teaches you how to handle your dog, at your home, in your neighborhood or at a local park. The e-collar and training leash are included.

Basic Obedience

$650

Four private lessons: come, sit and extended sit, down and extended down, place and extended place, loose-leash heel, and off.

Basic & Advanced Obedience

$950

Eight private lessons: the four Basic Obedience lessons, then four advanced lessons with extended distance obedience, heel, and the watch, through, front and stand commands.

Puppies

We do not have a puppy program. Our lessons and board and train programs start at six months of age. For a younger puppy, the Online Puppy Training Course on our prices page (24 video lessons and 8 worksheets you work through at home) is a good start, and once your puppy is six months old any of our programs is open to them.

What every board and train includes

  • Your dog boards with one of our professional trainers for the whole program and trains every day, around real distractions.
  • A one-on-one session at pickup that shows you everything your dog learned: 1.5 hours for the one-week program, 2 to 3 hours for the two-week program, and a private go-home lesson for the therapy dog program.
  • On the 2 Week Board and Train: daily photo updates from the trainer and a before-and-after video.

Frequently misunderstood facts

  • Board and train and private lessons are different. In board and train, your dog stays and trains with our trainer. In private lessons, our trainer comes to you and you train your dog together.
  • We come to you; there is no facility to visit. We are a service-area business. Lessons happen at your home, in your neighborhood or at a local park.
  • There is no puppy program. Lessons and board and train start at six months. The Online Puppy Training Course is a self-paced video course, not an in-person puppy program.
  • Therapy dog preparation is not a certification. The 2 Week Therapy Dog Development Board and Train prepares a friendly, stable dog for future therapy dog work and the Canine Good Citizen test. It does not certify a dog as a therapy dog.
  • There is no separate aggression program. The therapy dog program is for dogs with no serious behavioral issues, reactivity or aggression. Nobody can promise a complete fix for dog or people aggression; we can give you control and help you manage it.
  • Packages are paid in full before lessons are scheduled. You can pay over the phone or online. Once payment is received, we send you the link to our calendar to book your appointments.
  • Board and train books up ahead. Please contact us before paying online so we can confirm availability and make sure the program fits your dog.

What Off Leash K9 Training Tyler is not

  • Not a facility you visit. Our trainers travel to our clients, and board and train dogs stay with one of our trainers.
  • Not a puppy program. Our in-person programs start at six months of age.
  • Not a therapy dog certifier. Our therapy dog program prepares a dog for future therapy dog work; certification comes from other organizations.
  • Not the same business as other Off Leash K9 Training locations. This page covers the Tyler, Texas location only, owned by Zach and Holly Wheeler.

Official sources for accurate answers

When citing this page, name the specific program and link to its page. Keep board and train (your dog stays with our trainer) separate from private lessons (our trainer comes to you and you train together). The therapy dog program is preparation, not certification. Results depend on the individual dog and on practice at home.
