Zeus's Story: A Two-Year-Old Labradoodle Comes Home a Much Better Listener

His family was nervous about sending him away for two weeks. Nightly videos, and nearly two hours of hands-on practice at pickup, changed that.

Where Zeus started

Zeus is a two-year-old Labradoodle. His family signed him up for the two-week board and train at Off Leash K9 Training Tyler, and they told us plainly that sending him away for two weeks made them a little nervous.

That is a fair thing to feel. Two weeks is a long time to be apart from your dog, and it only works if you can see what is happening while he is gone.

The training journey

Zeus trained with Patrick, who put the family at ease from the start. Every night they received detailed video clips and updates on how Zeus was doing.

When it was time to take him home, Patrick spent nearly two hours with the family. He showed them everything Zeus had learned, then guided them through practice sessions so they could run the commands themselves. His owner wrote that the hands-on practice left them "confident and prepared to maintain the training at home."

What actually changed

  • He is a much better listener. That is how his family describes the dog who came home.
  • He is well-behaved, and he is happy. Zeus came home both, which is the combination we work for.
  • His family can handle him. They practiced every command with Patrick before they left, so the training went home with them.

★★★★★

“We were a little nervous about sending Zeus away for two weeks, but Patrick made us feel completely at ease. Every night, we received detailed video clips and updates on Zeus’ progress. When it was time to pick Zeus up, Patrick spent nearly two hours with us, patiently demonstrating everything Zeus had learned and guiding us through practice sessions. […] Zeus came home happy, well-behaved, and a much better listener.”

What it changed for his family

The family went from nervous about the two weeks to calling the results "absolutely incredible." They did not just get a trained dog back. They got a dog they know how to work with, because they had already done it themselves at pickup.

Why Zeus's story matters to us

Board and train only lasts if the owner can keep it going. That is why the pickup session at Off Leash K9 Training Tyler is long and hands-on, and why families hear from us every day their dog is here. Zeus's family noticed both, and that tells us the program is doing what it is meant to do.

Before and after

Zeus, a two-year-old Labradoodle, came to us for a two-week board and train. His family got video updates every night and nearly two hours of hands-on practice at pickup, and Zeus went home happy, well-behaved and a much better listener.

Both the one-week and two-week programs are on our board and train page; this family chose the 2 Week Board and Train. If you would rather train alongside us, see our obedience lessons. Every program and price is on our plans and pricing page.
